Tone Generator

Create a steady browser-generated tone at an exact frequency, waveform, digital peak target, route, and duration. This is a signal source—not a calibrated sound-level meter or hearing test.

Hearing safety comes first

Lower system and hardware volume before playback. Keep headphones off your ears for the first moment, never raise volume to chase an inaudible high or low tone, and stop at any discomfort.

How to use

  1. Confirm the safety check with device volume low.
  2. Set frequency, waveform, route, digital peak, and duration.
  3. Press Start; use Stop at once if the signal is uncomfortable.

Signal controls

Build a tone

Playback starts only from Start and always fades in and out.

READY
Hz

Logarithmic slider for broad moves; the number field accepts 20.0–20,000.0 Hz and rounds to 0.1 Hz.

Sine has one fundamental. It is the cleanest starting point and usually feels gentler than harmonic-rich shapes.

Digital peak target
Relative to browser full scale, per active channel −36 dBFS

This controls digital peak amplitude, not acoustic dB SPL. Waveforms are peak-matched, but harmonic-rich shapes can sound louder.

Local data flow

This tool calculates the signal in memory and connects it directly to the browser audio output. It requests no microphone or device permission, uploads no audio or settings, and stores no setting. Public-page usage analytics is described in the Privacy Policy. Audio stops when the page is hidden, left, restored from back/forward cache, reset, interrupted, or closed.
