Aspect Ratio Detector

Enter dimensions, inspect local media, or use a browser-reported viewport size. The exact ratio stays separate from the nearest common format.

Local-only analysis

Choose dimensions

Positive values up to 1 billion, with up to 6 decimal places.

Values may be pixels or any matching unit. You can paste a size such as 1366×768 into either field.

Copy summary writes only this result when pressed; your browser may request clipboard-write access. The tool never reads the clipboard.

gcd(1920, 1080) = 120, so 1920:1080 reduces to 16:9.

Nearest common formats

Deviation is (actual decimal ÷ standard decimal − 1) × 100. “Wider” means a larger width-to-height value; “narrower” means a smaller one.

How to use and interpret this detector

Enter width and height in the same unit, paste a W×H pair, choose a local file, or analyze one of the browser readings. Swap sides to check the opposite orientation.

The exact ratio is calculated from your actual values. The nearest common format is only a comparison: a result such as 683:384 can be close to 16:9 without being exactly 16:9.

Image and video dimensions are the intrinsic dimensions the browser decoder reports. Browser viewport and screen APIs report CSS pixels; this tool cannot identify physical screen size, hardware pixel count, or pixel aspect ratio.
